Company History

With more than 50 years in the making, Quality Oil, Inc. of Valparaiso, Indiana leads the industry in motor oil distribution.

In the early 1940’s, Raymond F. Heinold pooled resources with three other young men to start a small operation called Home Oil Company. This new business became the gasoline and fuel distributors for local farmers in the surrounding area. Although his partners went on to other ventures, Ray and his wife, Marie, continued to distribute products to farmers and the name was changed to Heinold Oil Company.

A New Start

• In 1943, Ray made the decision to begin selling motor oil. Quality Oil was then created as a subsidiary to Heinold Oil.
• J. Keith Heinold, Ray’s son, came to work for the family business late in the 1960s.
• In 1982, Keith purchased Quality Oil from his father and Heinold Oil Company continued as a separate entity.

Expansion into Quick Lube Wholesale

By creating an innovative full-service approach to oil and lubricant distribution, Quality Oil has established itself as the premier product and services provider in the quick lube industry. Today Quality Oil is well equipped with its own warehouse, tank farm, transportation fleet, and service personnel. Despite the enormous growth throughout the years, Quality Oil is a company that takes pride in its excellent service and capabilities, and continues as a family-run operation.
